Nigeria’s iconic trailblazing bankable music sensation 2Baba whose birth name is Innocent Ujah Idibia and Congolese performer cum entertaining music veteran, Awilo Longomba at the just concluded 6th AFRIMA Awards held in Eko Hotels, Lagos Nigeria with the theme “Feel Africa” were both crown with AFRIMA Legendary Awards.

Grammy Award nominee for World Music category and the African rave of the moment globally, Burna Boy, was also decorated as Best Male Artist in Western Africa in the regional category for the song entitled “Ye” and Artist of the Year in the Continental category with the song entitled – “Gbona” which was produced by Kel P.

Winners were announced in the 36 categories of the awards ceremony, which comprise the continental and regional categories. The Continental Category rewards African artistes in various music genres and forms, while the Regional Category celebrates the outstanding achievements of African artistes within their specific region.

Unlike the regional and continental categories where winners emerged via public voting, the legendary award category which recognises individuals who have impacted positively to the world using their craft in music, arts and culture is not open to public voting, but determined by the African Union, International Committee of AFRIMA and the AFRIMA Jury.
