Africa’s biggest musical award, AFRIMA, returns to Africa’s fastest growing mega city cum commercial hub–Lagos State. The decision, which was reached between African Union Commission (AUC) and the international committee of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) was officially made public via its website and official media partners.

Feel Africa”, the theme for the 6th edition of AFRIMA is primarily aim at solidifying unity, promoting Africa through its music, rich diverse culture and stimulate border–less continent to positively changing the narratives on the wide spread negatives about the continent  of Africa.

Since 2014, the city of Lagos, with the support from her Government and the Ministry of Information and Culture, have hosted Africa’s most glamorous musical awards—AFRIMA until 2018 when the hosting right was handed to the Republic of Ghana.

African Union Commission Head of Culture, Angela Martins, in extending her gratitude to the government of Lagos State said “Nigeria playing host to the 6th AFRIMA is indicative of the beneficial relationship the country has developed with the AU & AFRIMA as we use this continental awards platform to strengthen Africa’s culture industries while also promoting the cultural identity and integration of Africans.

We are also appreciative of Lagos State as host city for the 6th AFRIMA after hosting 4 previous successful editions of the annual awards programmes of events. We are confident that hosting AFRIMA in Lagos, Nigeria will in no small measure constitute significant achievements for the promotion of AU’s cultural objectives through the AFRIMA platform

As the world of music from other African countries gear up to experience the awesome city of Lagos this 2019, AFRIMA will officially kick off on Wednesday November 20. Music lovers will experience the non–stop evolving African music, the African style in AFRIMA Music Village on Thursday November 21 from 6pm. Investors and enthusiasts keen in music will have to secure seats early for the AFRIMA Music Business Summit, slated for Friday November 22 from 8:30am, and the AFRIMA awards live broadcast is on Saturday, November 23 preceded with a Red Carpet event by 4:30pm

On the flip side, voting for the regional and continental categories are ongoing via www.afrima.org until midnight of November 22.
